Overview[]
Species: Dharuk
Allegiance: Morganem and the Council of Six
Description[]
War Mages provide magical support and ranged offense to the Dharuk armies of Dhar. Despite their focus on magic over physical combat, War Mages are still physically imposing and muscular. They wear only light armour and wield scepters that help them focus their powers. Their sorcery combines dark and fire magics together and is focused almost entirely on military use.
Properties[]
Individuals born with the ability to wield magic are proportionally higher in Dharuk society than in most mortal nations in Ithia, though they are still rarer than the non-magically inclined. As such, most moderate-sized Dharuk combat groups will employ at least one War Mage to accompany them. Their services are rarely provided to Morganem's vassals, however.
War Mages attack at range with magical bolts of moderate strength, but their real power lies in their spellcasting abilites. War Mages can strengthen their allies, create undead reinforcements from nearby corpses and attack directly with bolts of dark fire. If attacked directly they are not quite as tough or well-armoured as Dharuk Warriors, but they can still survive a few hits.
While they don't pose a huge threat on their own, the danger they pose is boosted considerably when accompanied by other Dharuk, due to their ability to strengthen and support their allies.
Abilities[]
Dharuk War Mages attack at medium range.
Darkfire[]
Hurls a bolt of chaotic Darkfire at a single opponent, striking them for moderate damage and leaving them briefly stunned.
Eldritch Fire[]
Temporarily enchants the weapons used by a nearby ally, making them stronger, lighter, and blaze with chaotic flames. The effected unit gains increased damage and attack speed to their regular attacks for the duration of the spell.
Animate Corpse[]
A coarse necromantic enchantment that animates the bones from a recently fallen corpse. This creates a Dharuk Skeleton to fight for the War Mage. As the animating magics are not bound very strongly to the corpse, the Dharuk Skeleton will collapse into a pile of lifeless bones again after some time has passed.
