The Mageslayer Rings are magical items typically carried by members of Morganem's Council of Six.  They will wear them on a finger (or finger-equivalent) when anticipating a battle.

Physical Description[]

A Mageslayer Ring is made of polished, purple-hued metal, with a decorative carving situated near the top.

Properties[]

A Mageslayer Ring contains an enchantment that, when activated, will temporarily envelop the wearer in a glowing barrier of anti-magic. This barrier completely protects the wielder from taking physical damage from any spell or spell-like ability, though it does not protect them from any other effects (such as confusion, weakening etc) that such an ability may have, nor will it protect against damage from other sources.

While casting the enchantment drains the Ring and the barrier it creates will fade after a while, the Mageslayer Ring will also recharge itself over time by absorbing ambient magic, and once recharged, can be used again.

History[]

The Mageslayer Rings were created by Morganem for his Council of Six to assist them on the field with his quest to conquer and govern Ithia. Unlike some of his more impressive creations, the Mageslayer Rings are not unique: at least six exist, one for each of his Warlords.

The Companions encountered this item when facing the Warlords in Khaal Spire, where the Warlords used them to protect themselves in battle.

It is likely that the Warlords do not always carry these items on their person and only equip them when they believe there is a need to do so. Kaine Shariven, despite being one of the Council of Six, was not wearing his one when he was encountered on Gaeth.
