Overview[]
Native Plane: Ithia
Type: Animal
Description[]
Razorpigs are large, porcine creatures found throughout Dhar. They are similar to but larger than the wild boars sometimes found in other Planes, but in addition to tusks, their backs bristle with long, sharp quills, similar to a porcupine. A combination of hydraulic glands and muscles in their backs allow them to fire these quills with considerable accuracy and force over moderate distances to skewer targets from afar.
Properties[]
Razorpigs are omnivores that usually live in small family groups. Evolutionary pressures have made the Razorpigs very aggressive and savage, but also quite intelligent. Razorpigs can work in groups to bring down larger prey at a safe distance, and they are more than capable of defending themselves from threats.
Lore[]
Razorpigs are one of the native fauna that survive in the harsh environment of Dhar. Razorpigs have been very successfully domesticated by the local Dharuk, who use them either as food or as ranged skirmish troops in battle. Thanks to their relatively high intelligence and innate ability to work in groups they are easily trained to become a part of an effective Dharuk combat unit. Their fast breeding cycle also ensures that the inevitable losses can be quickly replaced.
Thus, these Razorpigs were a common foe faced by the Companions during the events of To the Bitter End whenever they encountered Dharuk forces.
Trivia[]
The trained Razorpigs are sometimes used as emergency rations by the Dharuk on long campaigns.
